Influence of SGLT1 Sugar Uptake Inhibitors on Water Transport

Sodium glucose cotransporters (SGLTs) are located in the cell membrane of various epithelia that uptake or galactose and sodium into cell. Its founding member, SGLT1, represents a major pharmaceutically relevant target protein for development new antidiabetic drugs, addition to being oral rehydration therapy. Previous studies focused primarily on transport substrates ions, while our study focuses effect water transport. SGLT1 is implicated absorption water, yet exact mechanism how occurs inhibitors such as phlorizin, able inhibit it still unclear. Here we present comprehensive based molecular dynamics simulations with aim determining influence energetic dynamic properties which influenced by selected sugar permeation.
